Keep your jewellery looking sparkly!

Our jewellery is made of fine silver and 18k gold set with gemstones and gem beads. Our precious metals are softer than sterling silver and other lesser karats of gold therefore they are delicate and need to be treated lovingly. With careful care your jewellery will remain looking beautiful for many years to come.

We have thoroughly checked your jewellery to ensure that it will withstand reasonable wear and tear, however we recommend that you take steps to ensure that your jewellery doesn’t rub against other metals or harsh surfaces as they will scratch and wear your pieces.

WEARING YOUR JEWELLERY

Silver Jewellery will naturally tarnish over time. To reduce tarnish we recommend the following:

  • Removing your jewellery when you shower or bathe, particularly if you are on the beach or swimming in the sea and in chlorinated water.

  • Avoid spraying perfume or applying creams directly onto your jewellery - your jewellery should be the last thing you put on when getting ready.

  • Keep away from extreme temperatures, humidity and sunlight, and avoid wearing your jewellery when using bleach and other harsh household cleaners or when gardening

  • Wearing a piece regularly can help to slow down the process of tarnishing as the metal moving against your skin and itself will help to keep it clean.

If you notice that a prong is opening, your stone is loose or a link is undone do not wear your jewellery but contact us immediately here and we will do our best to see how we can best assist you.

STORING YOUR JEWELLERY

To protect your jewellery, pieces should be individually placed in their own box or in a little baggie to stop them being scratched or tangled. Store in a cool dark place.

If your chains do get tangled, please do not tug them rather contact us here and we will advise you an easy method of detangling.

CLEANING YOUR JEWELLERY

The most effective way to clean your jewellery is to use a soft, lint free cloth to keep silver, 18ct yellow and rose gold jewellery looking shiny and lustrous. If your pieces are particularly dirty then warm soapy water and a very soft toothbrush can be used to keep your pieces looking beautiful and bright.  You can give your pieces a buff with a silver or gold jewellery cloth that is impregnated with silver cleaner to help remove tarnish - this can help delay tarnishing of your pieces as it forms a protective barrier. You can use these cloths until they are black – they shouldn’t be washed.

Most gemstones are quite robust, but if your jewellery contains gemstones please take a little extra care when cleaning, particularly with softer stones such as pearls, opals, lapis lazuli and turquoise, and do not use silver dip or ultrasonic, cleaners or excessively hot water as these softer gemstones can become damaged.

You are most welcome to come through and have all your jewellery professionally polished for a nominal fee. Contact us here if you wish to book an appointment.
